Our Story

​In the early 1950s, Francesco Inzitari had the opportunity of a lifetime to move to Australia. The brave man in his early 20s left his life (and wife) behind in search of the 'Australian dream'. He arrived in Australia and worked hard as a new migrant. Over time his wife, brothers, and extended family followed him to Australia and settled in Lithgow, NSW.

Sharing a love of food and southern Italian hospitality, the Inzitari family serviced the Lithgow community with their fruit shop. In the 1980s, Frank, his wife Mary and his children ventured into a new kind of business, acquiring the historic Grand Central Hotel, paving the way for his family's future in hospitality.

Michael and Sandra Inzitari's vision carried on from where Frank's story began. In 2001, they acquired the Zig Zag Motel in Lithgow. Over the years, the family's dedication to hospitality thrived and grew to new heights with their children, Chris and Genna's involvement post-university.

Today, the Zig Zag Motel flourishes with 68 rooms and serviced apartments. Their expansion extended to include the Albury Best Western Plus Hovell Tree Inn (2014-2023) and, in 2021, the acquisition of the  Bathurst Heritage Inn, a longtime fixture in the Bathurst tourism community.

The INZ Group's offerings extend beyond accommodation. With a dedication of hospitality, the family's journey is celebrated at Frankie's Restaurant & Bar in Lithgow, blending delectable Italian cuisine with a heartfelt tribute to patriarch Frank Inzitari. Thanks to the Heritage Inn, Catering by Frankie's is available with all the quality of wedding catering without the Sydney travel prices to local wedding venues in the Central West.
